Functionality

Subscribers can submit a fax to the system with recipient e-mail address (virtual fax) information. The EMS system will identify the e-mail address (map the virtual fax number to the e-mail address) and will deliver the fax to the specified e-mail address as a TIFF attachment with the mail body information about the sender and other details.

The recipient can use any graphic viewer (e.g. default imaging application of Windows) to view the TIFF image.

Features

4.a S & F Fax Service Features Applicability: All features (from 1.a to 1.k) of a S & F Fax are applicable in this service.

4.b Fax as TIF attachment: Recipients receive fax documents as attachments to their E-mail message. The attachments are in TIF format, which is widely used format for images, and can be viewed by using imaging application of Windows.

4.c E-Mail Address Through DTMF String: Subscribers can specify the e-mail address of the recipient in the DTMF string. The fax machine key-pad numbers are mapped to alphabets and can be keyed to notify the actual e-mail address. For e.g. key number 2 is mapped to abc and the subscriber has to press 2 and then 2 to notify alphabet 'b'.

4.d Mixed Broadcast: Other indirect way of using this service is by submitting a mixed broadcast list from a fax machine, wherein some of the recipients have e-mail addresses specified.

4.e Reports & Journals Via E-Mail: The EMS system also uses this service to deliver acknowledgements (delivery / non-delivery reports) & journals to the e-mail address of the subscriber instead of his/her fax machine number as specified in his/her profile in the EMS system. Most subscribers prefer having these sent as e-mail instead as faxes.
