OAZ's robust, reliable, easy-to-use billing solution empowers service providers to bill their customers for varied value-added services.

The Billing package works in conjunction with OAZ's Enhanced Media System (EMS). The package is very generalized and can be customized just by configuring system parameters.

The package is a user-friendly application with modular architecture. Modularization of the system provides capability to expand the horizons of billing as the service expands. The present version of the package is focussed on billing the subscribers of a Store-and-Forward Fax and Fax Broadcast service.

The Billing system takes care of all the aspects of billing and its generalization provides complete flexibility in choosing the parameters for billing.

The system has a World Directory in which the globe is divided into zones with similar destination rates. Each zone in turn has number of groups. These groups contain countries and areas within those countries.

System incorporates add, modify, delete facility & drag-and-drop features to move areas within countries or countries within groups or groups within zones. This facilitates to club areas with similar rates.

All probable areas are defined in the world directory, as the fax job can be to any part of the world.

To optimize the service performance, 24 hours of the day can be divided into time slots, say - Peak, Normal, Off-Peak. The Time Slots for the billing system are customizable. They can be added, deleted or modified. A rate factor is assigned to time slots to quantify their weight used for computing bills.

Also, for every zone defined, time slots are assigned for each day of the week for a particular time period as decided by you.

This allows having variable period for each time slot for zones as suitable to billing conditions for that zone and you can adapt to any possible conditions as and when time demands.

For each type of Fax job (Normal, Acknowledgement, Broadcast & Journal), a billing parameter can be selected individually. The billing parameters are Destination, Number of Pages, Size in Bytes, Duration, Flat, Priority & Class of Service.

Number of pages, Size in Bytes and Duration are assigned a number of slabs (range of practical values for that parameter) and a rate factor associated with each of it. Whereas Priority & Class of Service have service defined types and each are assigned a rate factor. In other words, for each parameter, a rate factor is assigned slab-wise or type-wise depending upon the parameter.

The system also has an option to take either the absolute value of assigned rate factors of parameters independently or rate factor value as a percentage of the destination value computed. The destination value of a fax job is computed as multiplication of the rate factor of that job's destination with the duration of the job.

This provides you with large number of combinations in which the parameters can be used for computing the bill amount.

Flat charge or a percentage of the billing amount (calculated using billing parameters) is used as taxes, discounts or other charges. Also a criterion can be provided to compute these factors only if the billing amount is higher than or lower than a value provided.

The system transfers billing database from the Media Server for the billing period provided. The system then generates bills automatically within the criteria provided like subscriber Id range, area for which bills to be generated and billing period.
